WE, THE PEOPLE OF INDIA, having solemnly resolved to constitute India into a SOVEREIGN SOCIALIST SECULAR DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC and to secure to all its citizens

JUSTICE, social, economic and political;
LIBERTY of thought, expression, belief, faith and worship;
EQUALITY of status and of opportunity; and to promote among them all
FRATERNITY assuring the dignity of the individual and the unity and integrity of the Nation;

IN OUR CONSTITUENT ASSEMBLY this 26th day of November 1949, do HEREBY ADOPT, ENACT AND GIVE TO OURSELVES THIS CONSTITUTION.

India is my country
All Indians are my brothers and sisters.
I love my country
and I am proud of its rich and varied heritage.
I shall always strive to be worthy of it.
I shall give my parents,
teachers and all elders, respect
and treat everyone with courtesy.
To my country and my people,
I pledge my devotion.
In their well-being and prosperity
alone, lies my happiness.

O My God, bless me,
Bless my work and my school,
Bless my parents and my teachers,
Bless my country and its leaders,
Make me obedient and truthful,
Give me courage and strength.
God, make me a good child! – Amen!

We bow to you, O Lord, God Almighty. You, having entered within us, have given life to our whole being. May our thoughts, words and actions be found worthy of your blissful touch and guidance today. – Amen!

Our Father, who art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy name,
Thy Kingdom come,
Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread; and
Forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us;
Lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil. – Amen!

O my God, I offer you today,
My work, my lessons and my play.
My heart, dear God, I give you,
Protect it and keep it true. – Amen

Dear God, I thank you for this beautiful day. I thank you for my teachers, and the good lessons I learnt from them. I thank you for my companions and friends and the joys we shared today. I thank you for the knowledge I gained, and the fun and the play. Thank you for your loving care, here at school and everywhere. – Amen!

Come Holy Spirit of God, source of all goodness, fill us with your gifts of wisdom, understanding and good memory. Enkindle in us the fire of your divine love that we may be able to express our thoughts, ideas and knowledge in the best possible way. – Amen!

God our father, we thank you for our parents, brothers, and sisters. May your love, peace and joy reign in our families and may it be deeply contemplative, intensely sharing and vibrant with joy. Help us to stay together in joy or sorrow. Teach us to see you in the members of our family. May we love each other more and more as you love each one of us. Let us forgive each other’s faults as you forgive our sins. – Amen!

O Lord, give us wisdom:
To deal with our children as You would;
To see in each of them Your holy image;
To develop in them a genuine love for all people.
Help us, to encourage them;
To discipline with kindness;
To guide them intelligently; And to pray always,
That they will be close to Thee all their life. – Amen

Bless us, O Lord, and these thy gifts which we are about to receive from thy bounty through our Lord. – Amen!

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light and
Where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek:
To be consoled as to console;
To be understood as to understand;
To be loved as to love.
For it is in giving, that we receive,
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. – Amen!
